The Michigan Ropers Association
Michigan Ropers Association Inc. was founded in 1949 with the purpose of preserving the art and skill of handling stock by means of a lariat or rope while on horseback.

It is our aim to advance the sport to a well-organized and equally well-conducted contest that is family-oriented, and that everyone can enjoy. It is also our purpose to grow the sport of roping, and to ensure that every contestant desiring to learn to rope, or to rope in a contest, has the best opportunity for success, and a fair and equal chance.
With this thought in mind, we have endeavored to maintain this organization on a high level of respectability, honesty, and integrity.
Over the past 60 plus years the MRA has seen steady growth in its membership, and currently signs over 300 annual memberships, and contracts more than 40 different weekend events and Jackpot Ropings held annually, including our State Finals which is held each September. Quite often these are held in conjunction with local PRCA, IPRA, and Mid-State Rodeos. Annually, the MRA hosts a year-end Banquet and Dinner, presenting in excess of $20,000 in awards to our yearly champions for each event and division.
We also take pride in being a source of sponsorship for the High School Rodeo Association and the Little Britches Rodeo Association. Plus we also grant donations toward numerous college scholarships for our membership youth annually.
We have Outstanding Cattle Contractors at each of our events who take pride in providing premium stock events and producing a weekend the entire family can find enjoyable.
