Attention Finals Ropers--July 26 Call in Day--See Special Events or Bulletin
tab!
Michigan Ropers Association Inc. was founded in 1949 with the purpose of
preserving the art and skill of handling stock by means of a lariat or rope
while on horseback.
It is our aim to advance the sport to a well-organized and equally
well-conducted contest that is family-oriented, and that everyone can enjoy.
It is also our purpose to grow the sport of roping, and to ensure that every
contestant desiring to learn to rope, or to rope in a contest, has the best
opportunity for success, and a fair and equal chance.
With this thought in mind, we have endeavored to maintain this organization
on a high level of respectability, honesty, and integrity.
Over the past 60 plus years the MRA has seen steady growth in its
membership, and currently signs over 300 annual memberships, and contracts
more than 40 different weekend events and Jackpot Ropings held annually,
including our State Finals which is held each September. Quite often
these are held in conjunction with local PRCA, IPRA, and Mid-State Rodeos.
Annually, the MRA hosts a year-end Banquet and Dinner, presenting in excess
of $20,000 in awards to our yearly champions for each event and division.
We also take pride in being a source of sponsorship for the High School
Rodeo Association and the Little Britches Rodeo Association. Plus
we also grant donations toward numerous college scholarships for our
membership youth annually.
We have Outstanding Cattle Contractors at each of our events who take
pride in providing premium stock events and producing a weekend the
entire family can find enjoyable.
Please contact us for more information, to learn to rope, or to find a
horse.
